Here is an another view about what is going on. You man not agree with everything but it is for sure food for thought. http://www.capitalismhitsthefan.com/ | More bailouts/stimulus? - we are on an economic cliff owing $16.2 Trillion and climing. This will only speed the collapse.

| | | | Hostess needs a new marketing campaign acknowledging that their products are not meant to be nutritious. They are a special treat. Eat one Twinkie a week as a reward for eating healthier the rest of the time. It's not gonna kill you. |

Somehow though it's widely accepted no prob.

| | | | I haven't eaten a Twinkie in a long time. When I was a kid, I thought they were awesome. When I got older, I found I didn't like the consistency or flavor of the cake. |

couldn't survive without concessions and not everybody was
willing to contribute. Even the Teamsters' union is blaming the
Bakers' union as one of the problems. |

Come to think of it, maybe Hostess should do Bacon Ding Dongs! EDIT Well someone kind of beat me to the concept.
I agree someone will buy the brand name and product recipes and keep them going. Perhaps introducing bacon versions. Could be a limited edition thing like McRib.

We appear to have an emergency situation. Someone capable of a moment's rational thought has posted in an OT thread. Don't worry, folks, we'll soon get this under control.

Bad management, tired brands, short-sighted strategy by venture capital owners, union intransigence, changing consumer habits, slow economy, etc. |

Bad management, tired brands, short-sighted strategy by venture capital owners, union intransigence, changing consumer habits, slow economy, etc. | This was posted in another forum by one of the Teamsters who approved their part of the contract and it may have a bit of truth to it-
"The workers simply wanted to keep what they had. Back in 2008 all the union employees at Hostess were asked to give wage and benefit concessions to help the company get out of bankruptcy. They complied, the company did not adhere to their plan to turn the company around. Instead most of the management got bonuses. The company did not reinvest modernization as they had proposed.
They did not want to see this happen again. I am one of the Teamsters who accepted the new proposal. The bakers chose not to. It's too bad that they chose to shut down. It is also questionable if these concessions would have been enough to turn things around. The company was poorly managed on almost every level." |

This anger towards businessmen/women as the rich enemy is disgusting! (And I'd LOVE to see what these naysayers would do given similar opportunities and situations...take the money and run I strongly suspect!!)
I'm no poor because someone else is rich!
Sorry for the rant. Just getting so angered by attitudes lately.
