Right now I'm looking at the kindle and the Sony PRS350SC.
I know they are both really good Ereader.
What I'm not sure is azw VS Epub format.
Wich one did you choose and why?
I will probably buy it tomorrow...
But I'm really not sure.
Also I think there are more Epub in french so far, but amazon will catch up pretty soon I guess.
I read both french and English, but french being my native language is easier for me.

I didn't compare it to the Sony, the Nook was the competition, and the consensus between the two is that both are going to be satisfying with only minor differences between them.

| | | | I'd go with the Kindle. It reads word documents, so you can copy and paste articles from online, plus reads just about anything you download off torrents. |

| | | | If you want the dedicated device get the kindle amazon supports far mor than any of the others.
I don't like dedicated devices so I've been looking into an Ipod touch for both e-reading and other tasks (I don't have problems with small screens)
I pads are expensive as all hell, and the new tablets from toshiba and HP truly do suck (sales reps keep trying to shove them down my gullet, but they are terrible devices).

For reading, the Kindle is far and a way a better choice. You can read it in bright light and there is a rudimentary browsing capability. The battery also lasts FOREVER!
The iPad is very useful for music, as well as photography. There is a Kindle app for iPad, and I have used it with heavily illustrated books.

I am not fond of the Kindle mostly because I'm not a fan of DRM (copy protection) and all Kindle books use DRM. Unfortunately, the 950 is pretty expensive (large screen, and has 3G/WiFi for getting books directly off the web rather than having to go thru a computer)
Take a look at the various eReader info sites, especially the ones that compare various readers, before you make up your mind.

Personally, I liked the feel and weight of the Kindle a little better, although they're awfully close in most respects. The Kindle will not do library books, however, and that was a deal breaker. I love Amazon, but I'm disappointed they chose the Apple closed-system model for the Kindle. |

It has a decent number of magazine subscriptions available and the list is growing all the time. The Library function was big selling point for my wife as well.

When they finally come out with a "ereader standard", the nook can just have a software update and it is ready to go. This assuming they don't go with Adobe as the standard, which is what the nook uses.
Some of the other readers have the reader software hardwired into the unit. |
