It pays to have a bit of knowledge about the culture when you go to work in a different country. A woman showing her body and having Allah writing on that exposed body was guarranteed not to go over well in a Muslim country.
I do feel for the Malaysian music fans because they are going to miss out on some great grooves, especially when it comes to the bass!

IMO Erykah & D'Angelo are some of the last real torch bearers for true soul music. |

I just saw her live on the weekend and although the band was great, the songs didn't groove enough for me. She was better than I was expecting, but well short of Fat Freddy's Drop, who were the main drawcard for me. I had high hopes for them and I was still dumbstruck. |

And she was still invited to perform in an Islamic nation. She might have thought that the sponsors knew before she was invited. Perhaps they just remember On and On from those many years ago.

Keep in mind, it's actually illegal to own an "UNLICENSED" printing press and self-censorship is "encouraged".. Add Malaysia to places I won't be visiting.. |
