Ever have a mover bail on you in a fit of rage?

I was helping my girlfriend and her mom move yesterday, and she managed to find a reasonable local (and independant) mover who was willing to take a post-dated check.

In hearing a 'large sounding engine' outside, we peeked out the door. There was his massive moving truck stuck in the alleyway. Our first impression was of him calling his employee 'a stupid effing idiot' and to 'get his *** over on the other side of the truck to dig it out with a shovel'. He was just one of those guys who swears at everyone, and no matter what you do, you're an effing idiot in his eyes.

Well, myself, the employee, and my girlfriends uncle and her cousin managed to push him out. He began swearing at us and telling us to get out of the way of the alley, and then as soon as we were out, began swearing and yelling at us once again, calling us idiots, telling us to get back in the alley and clean snow out. The uncle, trying to be nothing but helpful, mentioned that she should just pull onto the hard packed snow.

Well that seemed to be the worst possible thing he could have done. The mover got in his face, and said something along the lines of 'Now I'm only going to say this once. This is my move, not yours. We do things MY way. 95% of the time, that manouver works, and I won't have any of your effing condescending attitude. Do you hear me? None of that. You do as a effing say'. Well, right after that, he got back in his truck and left.

Knowing what I know now, I definitely would have said something. But what can you say? There was no way I was going to do anything to ruin it for my girlfriend's mom. He was all she could find and afford and I was not going to have all that thrown on me.

That was the most unprofessional incident I've ever seen in the service industry, bar none. We managed to get some last minute movers, and Two Small Men With Big Hearts literally saved the day from disaster.

And in an effort to promote them based on their incredible service...If you're moving, go with Two Small Men. If you're in Edmonton, request Dave & Dave.

Man, that's crazy. I've lived in apartments for the most part and heard the horror stories about movers, so I've almost always moved myself with the help of a friend or two.

But the last time, I had too much crap, and my friends and I are older, so I finally bit the bullet and hired a mover. I sought out a highly recommended one and paid up for it. And honestly, it could not have gone better. They were completely professional and great. Yeah, it cost, but it was totally worth it.
