This is why the home button has a square on it - MacRumors Forums

Of course! An App icon! Never occurred to me.

If you didn't know what it symbolized, just by looking at it, then the symbol is a failure.

But the people in that forum reacted to the news like it was some momentous revelation.

I've been an iDevice user for 3 years now and I don't "get" the significance of this amazing revelation.

Apple fanatics are practically in a cult culture, with Steve Jobs being the cult personality. I find it ridiculous, honestly. Whoop-dee-friggen-doo, the square looks like an app icon.

LOL. I am a recent convert to some Apple products but I try to avoid the cult-religion mentality. I see myself as agnostic but able to admit when Apple implements something in a way that I find superior to their competitors. The iPhone is an example. I had no interest in one until I tried one. I've used Android phones and hated them. I love my iPhone. But I do not worship Apple.

Does that make any sense?

Yeah, I'm an iPhone and iPod user myself. Love those particular items, but not a big fan of Apple overall. Their computers are overpriced, underpowered, and incompatible with most of the software and hardware out there. The only good things about them are the design and the built-in packages like Garage Band, etc. The iPad? It's an oversized iPod Touch. Don't really see the point.
