I highly suggest you check out www.last.fm.
It's a amazing site that has user profiles, and you can add friends and all that cool stuff but I think the feature I love the best is they make recommendations to you after you submit a bunch of songs you listen to.
Works with Mac and PC, it even submits the songs you play on your Ipod!
