Night before my final exam for this degree. I'm fed up, all I wanna do is play the 4 strings and start gigging again.

I've given up trying to boost my average, that was a total long shot anyway to get to the next classification. Sack it, I've got some fresh strawberries and a Duvel.

I miss this place. Anyone else feel burned out from finals?

All the time bro.

However, I will point out that Duvel is never a good idea, let alone before an exam!

Once this is out the way you'll be relieved. Good luck tomorrow tho, hope you are up to scratch on your MRI & fluorescence mircoscopy. If you're needing a hand just PM me

Man finals time kills me, especially medical micro and organic chemistry. I still shudder thinking about those

im aiming to avoid the in depth MRI question. i've done a brief outline of operation and main components (really, that should be component... HUGE ****ING MAGNET). damn those things are heavy and strong.

epi flourescence isnt so bad... CLSM and MPCLSM ain't no biggie either. i love Duvel. better than prozac (also great WITH prozac mind you)

I think we all have some we have flashbacks to, molecular oncology, nanophysics and laser engineering are the ones which keep springing to mind . . .

MRI:

Introduce magnetic field, aligning protons parallel or antiparallel to the field.
Introduce gradient field and an RF pulse at 90 degrees, making the protons precess.
The gradient and RF pulse cause protons at the Larmor frequency to shift and precess perpendicular to the gradient and RF.
Echo pulses (at 180 degrees) are used to stop the protons shifting out of phase.
Use warp fields to encode protons.
Changes in precess speed are detected as RF variences.
Monitor for relaxation time.
-Win

More or less (I think).

Thankyou for explaining what I had done today, it makes some more sense now!
