F1- Formula One Fans!

Hey fellow TBers, I cannot be the only F1 fan on TB, speak up.

Have just finished watching the 3rd race and this is looking like a very interesting season, 3 races-3 different winners- and some different car manufacturing teams making it into the competitive fold.
I don't have a favorite team, always root for the underdog so really loved Mercedes AMG team and Rossberg taking the China race.

Also looking forward to the return to the US especially since it's cross town, might get to see a race in person, very exciting.

I'm a Red Bull Racing fan... especially Vettel since he's my age. I'm a bit of a Red Bull addict, and I loved the look of the Red Bull car when I started getting into F1.

Hope you enjoy the US Grand Prix this year. I'll be headed to the Grand Prix of America next year when F1 swings by NJ.

While my company sponsors NASCAR, I've found myself more attracted to open wheel racing. Went to my first IndyCar race last year in Baltimore, but am absolutely fascinated by F1. Can't wait to see it in person.

Great race last night.
Nico Rosberg’s first victory ever, and the first victory for Mercedes Formula One since the 1955 Italian Grand Prix with the great Fangio behind the wheel.

I'm a Ferrari guy myself but enjoy the competition this year

It's looking like an interesting season already. I hope things carry on this way, although it's looking unlikely that I'll be able to get over to Spa for the Belgian GP this year like I did in 2011. That was definitely one of the highlights of last year for me.

Meh, I'll take rallycross or touring car races over F1 any time. I like close racing, and F1 has been nothing more than glorified time-trials for at least the last twenty years...

I've been a fan for almost 25 years. Been to Montreal in '91, '92, '93, '95, '99, Monaco and San Marino in 1997, Spa and Monza in 1998, Indy in '00 and '01. Hopefully F1 will actually come to me this year.

I've been a fan since the 60s, when I caught a few USGPs at Watkins Glen. I'll probably go to Austin next year if the first one this year goes alright.

This season has sure seen a lot of passing action already. Looks like the intentional tire wear gambit works pretty well.

It is definitely a screwy season so far. I've only been following since 09, but I've gotten very into it since then. Happen to be a Lotus Renault, Grosjean fan for no particular reason. F1 is one of the few sports I can watch without clearly having a dead set "favorite" or "least favorite."

Other than Karthikyan. He can go screw.

But I'm looking forward to going to Austin this year for the race (and probably NJ next year as well). Will be my first time seeing these cars in action, and what I've heard from some of my friends (who attended Indy, including the "race" in 05) it is quite the spectacle.

I've been a huge, huge fan since I was a little kid, and worked for STR for a few years.

We're in for a great season.

Can't wait - two US races in '13 - 'bout time. Hope Austin doesn't end up like another Indy. Been to all the US races since 1977, but Austin?? I just can't figure that one out. Cowboys and race cars? So far the season is great; exactly what F1 was shooting for last year except the exhaust defuser debacle at Red Bull ruined it - this year they got the rules right.

Anyone know what happen to Kimi and the Lotus - from 3rd to 14th.

His strategy was bad- he stint was far too long for being in traffic, so his tires just fell off a cliff right at the end of the stint. Think Hamilton, China, 2007 (though not as bad).

I'm disappointed they are going ahead with Bahrain. The same crap that was going on last year persists today. But, I guess money trumps torture. I think Bernie's gone senile.

Yep. Interesting to hear the 'don't mix sport and politics' defense regularly trotted out....

....Phidipides was hardly on a fun run :)

Edit - apologies for the minor derail. However, the Bahrain situation is highly pertinent to the current F1 calendar, so I thought it was worth a brief comment.

Carry on :)

Formula 1 fan here.
Been a real fan since attending the first Detroit Grand Prix back in 1982.
Just watched the China race last night and was glad to see Nico win.
Also like Bruno's results so far.
Looks to be shaping up as an interesting season.
The Rosberg and Senna names in the top 10 again.
Cool
Jeff

I started watching F1 back when I was around 5 or 6 and it was a pretty epic Villeneuve vs. Schumacheur battle, I kept on following Villeneuve until back in 03'. I gradually lost interest since, I maybe watch two or so races a season now.

Birdland11 04-17-2012 09:12 AM

I love F1 too.......olay, olay, olay, Senna, Senna.

bassbrad 04-17-2012 12:01 PM

I can certainly understand some of the confusion about F1 in Austin but hey it's been an interesting story. If you follow local Austin and Texas politics it has been a hot/cold reception to say the least, but hopefully having a world class track will bring other racing events and a top driving school to town.

Circuit of The Americas - Home of the F1 US Grand Prix | Nov. 16-18, 2012 | Austin TX

We have been watching F1 for about 10 years now we got into F1 and WRC at the time we got our '02 Ford SVT Focus and first went to racing school. We do watch some other racing, especially the NASCAR & Indy clowns on a road course.
