Reality sucks doesn't it?
Guarantee this is pretty tame and harmless compared to some of the things they do to prisoners.

Now I'm not saying what she did is right by any means as I believe we should treat all HUMANS equally, but the whole premise behind what's right and wrong in war just gets well very weird.

That pic is tame and IMO people are being too sensitive and politically correct. There are far worse things that could have happened to both of them, such as being shot, blown up, maimed for life, limbless and killed. IMO, the Israeli government is only speaking out against to pic to try and maintain a positive image within the world and to prevent any sort of backlash from their neighboring Arab states.
Another thing a lot of people don't take into consideration when they see pics like this is that military personal, especially those in combat units, are extremely dehumanized and don't view/value the enemy as a human being. It's done to enable us to kill our enemy without hesitation. It's been conditioned in them to the point of it almost being instinctual. It's not just something you can shut off like a light switch, just because someones an EPW, especially when 2 countries have been at war with each other as long as they have. So I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if she honestly didn't feel like she was doing anything wrong.
There is a psychological factor involved. It is demoralizing. When the enemy see's mistreatment and torture on their own, it to some degree scares them and makes them more fearful of their opponent.
Our and our allies enemies usually don't follow "the rules," and when your enemy is not fighting by them, neither can you. Though I primarily hold the belief that the biggest fallacy of warfare is that there are rules. There is only one rule in war and it's the same rule as a street fight, "win." There is nothing humane about war and people need to quit trying to portray it as if it is.
