There are whole companies that house and sell personal information to whomever needs it.
Chances are if you signed it, it's in a database somewhere.
they are pretty interesting.

That site is obviously enormous, why in the world would a person let that info be visible to anyone who visits their profile?

I don't post anything more than my name and even that is private. For those that put their wives, kids, phone numbers, address etc are justing asking for identity theft or trouble.
It isn't smart. |

but you cannot permantly delete a fb account.
Pulled the plug on my fb awhile ago, didn't look back.
Privacy wasn't as a big issue as my growing deception from my «friends'» posts.
Familiarity breeds contempt.

However, I posted the above link as a reminder to Fb users to vet & occasionally review their security settings in view of this latest in a series of marketing demographic amalgamation effort$/encroachments upon personal privacy by the folks at Facebook. |

That was the final straw for me, even though I have so far managed to avoid showing up there. I Googled a long lost friend and found both a Google Earth image of her house, and phone number on Spokeo, without even paying for the 'premium' info. |

I remember while creating my profile thinking "they're joking, right?" when I saw the fields for your address and phone number. Only my name and town are on my private, friends-only page. I don't understand why one would put such sensitive information like that up on a website like Facebook.
