FAFSA is a sick joke and I (and other students) are the punch line. Originally the federal government stated that I had 15,000 a year to contribute to my education, from effing where? So after filing for special circumstance 4 times (it got 'lost' the first 3 times) multiple PIN duplicate requests. All I got was: a headache, high blood pressure, and a nervous twitch. What I did not get: money.
This country is doomed. I pray they (the govt.) don't start administering health care.

| | | | Ugg, filling out the FAFSA was such a pain in the ass, and I didn't sleep well every year until I got the paper in the mail stating my award amount. I grew up very modestly and got to go to a state school paid totally by grants, so I'm not complaining about the opportunity FAFSA gave me. I just hated the process of filling it out and the worry that something was going to get screwed up, thus preventing me from going to college that year.
Due to taking an assistanceship, working other jobs, and making decent coin by gigging, I didn't really have to worry about FAFSA as a grad student. I only took a little bit of a Stafford loan as a grad student because I needed to buy a new car one semester.

Dropping this sort of coin on an education makes you far more valuable to companies in the future, therefore more than paying for itself. I think I calculated four years of my education would start to pay for itself within eight years.
It's a pain in the butt, especially the FAFSA, but is entirely worth it. Unfortunately these days it's not uncommon to be $100k in debt before starting a career.

Over 100,000 people had their student loans messed right up and some are still waiting. Being a continuing student helped me, I could do all mine online.

Toughen up, this is life. | Or just be smart enough to have the school pay you to go.
Just go retake your entrance test, ACT, SAT, whatever, until you hit 95th pecentile or so, any state university will give you a full ride for that. |

psh... I scored in the 97th percentile of the SAT, and I got exactly ZERO dollars in financial aid from Cal-State Fullerton.

I didn't qualify for student aid when I went to college. I got a job and student loans. You do what you have to do to keep from getting a job with you name sewed on your shirt.
