I just dug 1942 back out, wanted to see who else digs these games.

vietnam was good.
BF2 was really good, but not as good as 1942 IMO.
2142, I could never get into.
Bad company 2 is very MEH, its like they keep dumbing the game down and taking features out. graphicaly beautiful, gameplay wise its not very good IMO.
I tried install 1942 on my comp, but I couldn't get it working with windows 7.

I prefer Vietnam to 1942 tho, why? Because of the radio, nothing like playing Ride of the Valkyries while in a Huey or Surfin' Bird in a Chinook 
BF2, I sunk many many hours into that game, it's still a great game to play online too!
Not played Bad Company 1, I have Bad Company 2, so far of what I've played, it's ok, not quite the same as the others tho.

none of the comps in my house have a graphics card that can run Bad Company 2, so the only time I can play it is if I go to my friend's house (I gave him my steam account).
