Favorite James Bond?

Sign in to disble this ad
With James Bond movies being my absolute favorites, I've decided to watch all 21 movies in a row while I'm home for break. I've seen every movie since Tomorrow Never Dies in theaters, and simply can't get enough James Bond. I've had several discussions with Bond fans and "Bond fans" about the best Bond.

I was curious as to yours, and why.

I'm split pretty evenly between Brosnan (who I grew up watching as Bond) and Daniel Craig (who is perfect as a young, aggressive Bond, perfect for the series reset) but Sean Connery will always have a special place in my heart as the original.

Sean Connery, hands down. No contest.

Second, Daniel Craig, he's just believable as Bond.

+1 Connery was the man as Bond.

I really like Casino Royale, but wasn't overly thrilled with Quantum, although Daniel Craig was still good. Far better than Timothy Dalton ever was...that guy pretty much sucked as Bond

Favorite? Peirce, he was just smooth. Best? Connery, can't top him.

I've read every Bond book, and Connery was the personification of Bond as written by Fleming. he's forever Bond in my book.

However, I'm incredibly impressed by Dan Craig. I thought there was no chance he could make it look right, but his intensity and acting really put him in the top tier.

Just the Fleming books, or all the authorized authors as well?

And yes, I agree that Connery was probably the most accurate.

Interesting, but exactly what I expected:

Everyone who voted for Brosnan was in their 20's. The person who voted for Moore was in his 30's, and the people who voted for Connery were in their 40's or older.

I guess favorites are dependent on who you grow up on.

I can't choose. I know most people have an opinion on this, but I don't. They're all a bit different but still there's nobody I like particularly much or strongly dislike as Bond.

Daniel Craig, although Connery gets a mention as the only guy worthy of holding the role before Craig came along.

Craig has incredible POTENTIAL in the role, but he's got a bit to go to take the title away from Connery just yet. Otherwise, you're about right in my estimation.

Here's mine in order..
1. Sean Connery
2. Daniel Craig
3. George Lazenby
4. Timothy Dalton
5. Pierce Brosnan
6. Roger Moore

While Bond will always be Sean Connery to me, I do think Craig's character is very similar to the Fleming character. Cold, heartless, and driven.

I like both Craig and Brosnan, mostly because they are the exact oposite, Brosnan was the man of impolute white gloves the clever side of bond, while Craig shows the brutality of precise violence and the intuitive side of bond.

Anyway Conery will always be the legend.

OK, I'll play that game as well:

1. Sean Connery
2. Daniel Craig
3. George Lazenby
4. Pierce Brosnan
5. Roger Moore
6. Timothy Dalton

Dalton is just too effete to be a Bond, IMO. Moore is marginally better, his take kind of worked because of his humor. Brosnan was smooth, but a bit TOO smooth, at least to me, he wasn't convincing as a bad@$$ dude. Lazenby with a bit of time to evolve in the role may have become more convincing.

Yeah, Brosnan was always a bit smooth and wimpy to be a good Bond, though the films he was in were always watchable.

Connery because he really defined the role when it needed defining. He maybe stuck with a bit too long and then made that horrendous non-licensed Bond movie.

Roger Moore is a close second. He had the smirkiness and comedic edge to play the bond with class. He probably hung on one flick too long as well. He was really starting to show his age in the Grace Slick Christopher Walken flick.

None of the others compare to these tow Bond-demi- Gods

Connery wins, of course.

I can't believe people liked Pierce Brosnan! He was the absolute WORST Bond ever!

While Sean is easily my favourite, but Daniel Craig is a pretty close second; he's got an awesome attitude!

Personally, I think Connery is entirely overrated. The last film I watched him in was "Thunderball". That movie desperately needs to be remade...again, except a little closer to what fleming intended. That's why I liked Casino Royale so much. It was very close to the novel, except adapted for modern times.
