My wife and I are doing an experiment. We are considering giving up our cable TV service, but before we cancel Time Warner, we are giving it a trial run.
We have been checking out lots of stuff from the library and watching shows online, as well as finding other stuff to do.
However, we've always had the bad habit of watching during dinner, so we've been checking out a few of the TED Talks for our mealtime viewing.
As there are over 900 talks available, I'm looking for suggestions and recommendations. A lot of these range from 10 to 50 minutes which is about right for us. We can watch one longer vid or two or three of the shorter ones.
I'd be interested in any other lecture series suggestions.

But good on dumping cable. It's a start.

I had no idea what he was going through. His wife was amazing, and so was he. Incredibly brave of him to do that episode. |

We walk for 30-45 minutes morning and evening, during which we talk.
And watching T.V. doesn't preclude talking to one another.
Of course most of those conversations consisted mostly of, "How much are we paying for this?"
But thanks for the "advice." |

I just watched a couple of those--She could've done an entire lecture on any one of the examples.
I watched one of them on YouTube and several of the related videos (on design) look interesting.
Here is one that we watched the other night: Handspring Puppet Co.: The genius puppetry behind War Horse | Video on TED.com
And a related thread of mine from a couple of years ago: War Horse (very cool puppets) |
