Meh. We had a thunderstorm Thursday that had higher winds and penny sized hail.

We're in the "Cone of Uncertainty" which essentially means the metoerologists don't have a friggin' clue! The "Cone" seems to be this year's catch phrase. News crews started knocking on doors yesterday asking people if they're prepared. I wish they would've come to my door so I could smack some sense into them! All of the spaghetti models, forecasts, etc...are useless. No one knows where she's going. If these idiots can't tell you if it will rain tomorrow or not, how can they predict a hurricane's path? THEY CAN'T! One local weather guy says "I wouldn't be surprised at all if it changes...". Talk out of both sides of your mouth much?

Yes, I harbor a little resentment towards meteorologists
What other job out there lets you be wrong more than right and pays big bucks???

A few years ago, a hurricane was "headed right for us!" according to the news, then did a 360 in the Gulf and we didn't get so much as a drop of rain from it...idiots.

It's Mother Nature...and any one of us on here could predict the weather as accurate as any "professionals". There was a study done that looked at meteorologists forecasts over a certain period of time from every major US market and the "best" one was accurate only 30% of the time. That was the BEST one!

Ok, I feel better now

Bring it on. It's been a few years since we've had a good storm.

I really don't understand what the big fuss is about. It's going to be a category 1 max IF it makes landfall on Florida. People are going to lose shingles, some trees are going to fall down and there will be a handfull of people without power for half of a day. The way that local news crews present the story makes it seem like the apocalypse is coming. Calm down people. Unless you live on the oceanfront, you don't really have much to be scared about. Have your basic supplies ready, stay indoors during the storm and don't do anything stupid. Done.

Yeah, decent surf for Florida. It is a fixture during any low category hurricane or tropical storm to have news reporters at the beach interviewing and taping those that decide to surf during the hurricane. Sometimes police are waiting for the surfers to come back to shore.
