Federal indictments finally handed out in Katrina shooting

It's about time. Previous charges were brought against some involved in the coverup, but this has been a long time coming. U.S. Attorney Jim Letten is one of the best things to happen to New Orleans since the storm.

The indictment does not speak to motive, nor should it.

What was their motive, anyone? Are we talking about open season on street people? Sure sounds like it...

It's been too long for this mess to be resolved. I figured these indictments would be coming after the guilty plea back in April. I'm hoping for good things for the city with Serpas and Landrieu.

That thread was about the guilty plea in the coverup. I figured the nailing the actual shooters deserved its own thread.

For locals, this is one of many signs that the city/area is (hopefully) turning around. The Mayor of Mandeville was sentenced last month, Dollar Bill Jefferson and the rest of his family will probably be going to jail, it's widely believed Mayor Ray Nagin will see jail time for kickbacks, etc. It's a shame that Eddie Jordan's racist and ineffectual ass won't see jail time, but you can't win them all.

I purposely left the word "police" out of the title of this thread (and my posts). Anyone notice a difference between this one and the other cop thread going on right now? Wording counts.
