Fedex Claim info needed

Sign in to disble this ad
I've probably used Fedex 50-60 times to ship and have never had a problem. I potentially have one now.

I shipped a Line 6 XDR-95 rack wireless on August 2nd to a buyer on Ebay. I was just informed today that there was a "possible" ground problem with the unit. It worked fine when I shipped and the buyer wants to return, I have no problem with that. Package was very well packed with bubble wrap and popcorn.

What's the likelihood of a sucessful Fedex claim for a box with no damage? It was insured for $300, arrived at the buyer on Aug 7th and I was informed today (Aug 19th).

For an electronic issue on an item that arrived with the item and carton in seemingly good, undamaged, external physical condition? I don't think Fed-Ex is gonna' take the blame on this one. Not readily anyways. I used to run a shipping department, for a large retail concern, that sent lots of new consumer electronics out to customers five days a week. I know how the claims process works with them and Big Brown, for good and bad. I'm also not disbelieving you when you say you shipped it out in good working condition. The problem of him having it for over a week and now telling you about the problem, isn't going to help your case. He could have damaged the unit himself in that time, and now wants to dump his problem back on you, or maybe he's being honest. Who knows? You sure are welcome to try and see what Fed -Ex does, but don't be surprised if they balk at you filing a claim against them. I wish you luck, if indeed the unit has the problem that your buyer is griping about, and it seems due to some kind of mishandling during the original shipping upon inspection. Whenever I sell used gear that I know is in good shape, I sell it as is, no refunds. Shipping damage is an entirely different matter. Keep us posted as to how things work out for you.

I would seek some sort of proof that there is an actual issue, before anything else.

buyer has 100% feedback with over 80 positives.

My Ebay feedback is 100% with nearly 400 positives

here's the email he sent...

I was happy to receive this item in excellent shape when I
removed it from the box, with the extras as described in the
auction.

Unfortunately my happiness went away when i plugged
in to my amp and upon selecting my distortion channel a
REALLY loud ground hum started. My bass player has
the same unit, which i hooked up with the exact config and cables and it doesn't make a sound.

We also tried interchanging packs, and cables and
nothing worked to stop the hum on the distortion
channel. I called a line 6 service center and they said there are two internal grounds on the unit since it doesn't have a ground plug. They think that one of the grounds
could be damaged?

I really have no desire to have this repaired for what
I paid for it, so I will be fine with chalking up to a misunderstanding and sending back for a refund. Please let me know how you would like to proceed.

Does it work OK when it's just being used on a normal (i.e. non-distortion) channel? Has he tested the unit like:
Bass -> Transmitter -> receiver -> input

?

My pessimistic side thinks perhaps this guy had another one, the one his bass player has, which had a bad ground. He buys yours and "returns" the bad one.

yeah that has crossed my mind. He never left feedback for me and would rather keep things all positive.

I purchased it new about 4 months ago & when I'm not lazy I should give a glance over at the Line 6 website for warranty info. I got it from AMS so & they usually double the manfacturer warranty. hmm...
