So, I won a Hofner bass on EvilBay a week or so ago, paid a good wad of cash for it and have been waiting for it in eager anticipation...
via the magic of tracking numbers, I've been following it's journey across the good ol US of A...it's stops, and adventures in fedex depots all along the way, the West Coast, the Midwest.... I imagined the countless hands that must have touched and caressed the cardboard cocoon of loving safety that embraced my soon to be German spruce wood baby, the exotic places that it has passed on it's way to me..
Checked the tracking again like 5 AM this morning.. it made it's way to Pittsburgh last night...oooohhh, closer now but still so far away... could it...would it...might it.. arrive at the Relic mansion today?? Mmm...noooo Pittsburgh's too far, probably tomorrow. BUT WAIT!!!!
We'll I'll be... through the magic of package tracking, I learned that the fedex elves got my Beatlesque beauty all the way to my local fedex depot!!
AT LAST!! After waiting so long, it's sooo near. OMG! OMG! Just calm down. Check tracking short time later...out for delivery!!!!!!! Woo-freakin-hooo!!!
So from 8 am this morning, I wait in eager anticipation, allowing my OCD tendencies to rule me as I check the tracking every 20 mins to see if it still says "out for delivery"...it does, it does!
8 becomes 9, 9 becomes 10...urgh I can't take it, it's killing me with anticipation.
11:00, 12:00.... the obsessive and repeated checks of the tracking still shows, "out for delivery" yes yes, my baby will arrive just be patient, deep breaths...in..out..in...out, 1:00, no bass, OK I'm cool. I can handle this..2:00..alrighty, I'm OK.
Why, in fact, I'm just going to sit down and relax and not think about it...2:30, in a bust of nervous energy I lunge for the computer.."out for delivery"...AAAAA!! Ok ok ok any minute now, 3:00...where is it?? Where is it?, oh dear god where is it?????.."out for delivery" ok, I'll just sit here, relax and close my eyes for a few mins........a few minssssssszzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzz
I wake with a start...HOLY SHISTAFARFEGNUGEN!!!!!! did I just fall asleep??? I run to check tracking: Reason Delivery Not Completed Recommended Action
1. Customer Not Available or Business Closed Delivery will be re-attempted the next business day.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
why didn't the driver just ring the darn doorbell!!! I was on the couch, right next to the door literally 5' away from this clown when he must have ever-so-gently tapped on the door instead of pressing the big yellow button that rings a doorbell louder than a darn foghorn... i would have woken for sure.
*sobbing fitfully* why....whyyyyyyyyy....
Rant off.
I feel so much better now. Thanks for listening. And now back to you regularly scheduled program

I had the same scenario as far as "not available". I was downstairs in the laundry room when the fedex guy came. He must have just looked at the door instead of knocking or ringing the doorbell. I have a 90lb dog that barks at the wind if it blows, and he never made a peep. |

I waited a week for a sampler some 7 years ago that french UPS could not deliver beacause "We can't find your street", now wait here, how do you guys at UPS think I found the street first time I came here? Ever heard of MAPS!
Finally I had to rearrange for a pickup by me on a UPS depot in Paris, and then take it back home in a cab.
Nobody said you need anything more than a drivers license for small trucks to work as a delivery man ...
The mistake gave me 2 looooong nights to prepare the sampler before the rehearsals started, oh did I mention I had a day job as well ....
=(

-Mike | I called fedex and they told me that they had no communication with the driver so they could not ask him to come back. Uh huh. So after that I jumped in the car and tried to find the dope to no avail. Oh well, I'll just have to repeat it all tomorrow..

I called my local FedEx office and told them that I saw the tracking page say that nobody was home (I was checking it like I had OCD). I told him I've been home all day, and within 10 feet of my door for the last hour. He got a hold of the driver and made him get his butt back out here, deliver it properly, then the manager called back and made sure I got the package.

________ DRIVER
PLEASE KNOCK HARD SO I CAN HEAR YOU!
I'M INSIDE WAITING.
THANK YOU.
| What these guys do is sometimes knock lightly and move on quickly if they are behind schedule.
Leave a window open so you can hear the truck pull up.
