Fedex and UPS are stains in my undies.

I swear these are the most unorganized companies on earth. UPS once sent one of my packages, being shipped to me, to Washington, the state. I live in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania!

Now Fedex, who has my 1400 MTD bass that i just bought from The Perfect Bass is messing up. First my bass was shipped from Louisiana to Tennessee. Than it was accidentally left there for 5 days. Now finally i called them and they said it was a mistake. They called me back today to tell me it was in maryland...out of the way, but whatever. Now they just call me back and tell me its going to colombus ohio! you have to drive through pittsburgh to go there for crying out loud! its already 3 days late. If it is one more day late you will see me on the news for shanking the fedex guy when he comes to my house.

i hear good things about DHL, im going to try them next time.

Yes, I absolutely agree. More so about UPS than FedEx, but I still am in agreement for the most part.

The most recent headache for me was when I ordered a rabbit hutch through PetSmart. This is a very large item, weighing about 80lbs. They shipped it UPS ground. Apparently, UPS returned it on their own to PetSmart saying that "I" had refused it due to damage. I never even saw the package. It never delivered to my house. Petsmart was cool about it, reshipped it again, this time 2 day air. Once again, it was returned to PetSmart quoting damage, but at least this time they didn't say "I" refused it. The returned it on their own. Again, petsmart was cool about it, shipped it again over night, and it was delivered. It was in such bad shape that it was almost useless. Luckily the manager for phone orders at petsmart was really cool about it, and gave me a huge discount on it if I was willing to repair it and use it, as they would just throw it out. Keep in mind that this whole time I was in contact with UPS's customer service. They do nothing. I don't even know why the bother having a customer service line. They just aplogize, but straight up say there is nothing they can do.

Long story short, it took UPS three seperate times to ship something to actually get it to me, and in the end it was highly damaged anyways. UPS is a terrible company.

I just bought a bass that was shipped through UPS. When I got it, it had been dropped/smashed hard enough that both corners of the case were completely shattered and the bass' electronics were screwed up (just brought it into the shop yesterday so I don't know exactly what's wrong with them yet).

When I contacted UPS about a claim they told me that I'd have to package the bass back up exactly as I received it and have one of their guys pick it up and ship it to a customer service center for inspection.

Of course when I brought up the fact that I was already getting it fixed so that I'd know what the actual cost of repair would end up being--and seeing as how they broke it already--and asked if I could drop it off myself and not risk them breaking it again they said it wasn't possible. Even though, if all I wanted to do was ship a normal package, I could drop it off at the same customer service center they are planning to take it to with no problem.

You should soak your undies in warm water and baking soda to get that out.

Fixed quote.

Trust me, one day you will. Nobody is immune to UPS's incompetence.

I ship and receive with UPS all the time. Yes, every once in a while there's a mistake, but percentage-wise, it's not enough to worry me. Damage I've seen is almost always from people not packaging things very well and not taking into consideration that shipping - particularly ground - is not a delicate process. I've had no more or less issues with FedEx.

This reminds me of the carry-on I had receiving my Shergold from Royal Mail last year.

The bass was sent out by the seller to me on the 18th of August. The seller even personally rang me and told me the bass was definitely on its way.
Now I was away at the time but my mum agreed to collect the parcel for me.

On the 20th the parcel company contacted me, saying that the parcel needed a signature, had been held at my local depot and was going to be sent back to the main depot if I couldn't collect it. I told them I was away and that I wanted the bass delivering to another family member's house. They agreed to do so.

The day after this I got another phone call, this time by a delivery driver saying I would now have to collect the parcel MYSELF from the depot because of the weight of the parcel. I tried to arrange another delivery but they said I would have to pay EXTRA on top of the £30 I'd already had to pay.

So I agreed and when I got back home on the 25th , it turns out they'd delievered the parcel to my house after all and that the parcel had been there 2 days.

Idiots!

How much do you ship where you can say "damage I've seen is almost always" anything?

Yea shipping ground isn't delicate but I think its more than a little mistake when they break something that's in a hard case, break the hard case itself and all the while the whole bunch of it was double boxed and cushioned.

I don't ship with them that often, but I'll tell you two of the last three things I have had shipped through them (the other being an effects unit--double boxed and cushioned) have obviously been mistreated.

I might be completely misunderstanding you ('cause I'm pretty pissed off with my experience with them at this moment) but if your saying that you should expect your shipment to be dropped off a three story building, or the equivalent, and package it accordingly or the damage is your fault--well that's just insane.

I've never had a problem with either shipping firm. I have had $1000 worth of videotapes disappear into the maw of the USPS and stay there for six months, then mysteriously appear one day - the box was covered in dust.

And anyone who gets a FedEx or UPS shipment must memorize Rule One: NEVER throw out the packaging until you're 100% sure the item is OK. They won't do squat for you if you can't produce the original packaging. I have no quarrel with that - it's fair as far as I'm concerned.
