My current roommate has to go back to spain because he cant find a job and his student visa expires. So i need to find a new roomie. I have friend whos a girl, who needs a place too so i was thinking of moving in with her. We generally get along, are close, but not close enough where i would have problems with her bringing dudes home and vice versa. But are there any unforeseen problems i should be aware of before i go signing a lease with her. There would be one other mutual male friend living with us. |

And girls are not guaranteed to be inherently cleaner, but I'd agree that you'll have a much better chance of finding a girl that cleans up after herself than a guy. Especially if you've had guy roommates like I've had in the past. |

And a word on the cleaning up bit: Chicks are more likely to clean up after themselves, but by the same token will get pissed if you don't do the same. Not a problem if you like to keep a clean house, but something to look out for if you're a slob.

IF you can manage to avoid any sort of sexual tension, co-ed living arrangements can be far superior than single gender arrangements.
Tends to stay cleaner, less drama.
Just make sure you lay down ground rules on day one. What's acceptable and what is not, and stick to it.

In my 20's, I rented a room in a house full of 20-somethings. Four guys. Myself and one other female.
They loved it that we were so clean. They loved it so much that they expected us to pick up after them. We refused, and fighting ensued. The house was never good after that, because the guys would just leave their messes out, and we wouldn't clean them up.
Then the other girl got involved with one of the guys, and she became The Queen Of The House, and felt I should be the scullery. Um...just because I'm not sleeping with anyone in the house, and you are, does not exempt you from your share of work, girlie!
So...pick up after yourself. Unless she's an idiot, your roommate isn't going to do that for you.
