Finally! Movie Theater Boots Texting Customer

This is great - glad to see a company talking a stand like this. I hope that more companies will adopt policies like this. The cell phone is a DISEASE of sorts.

Texas movie theater makes an example (and a PSA) of a texting audience member | The Lookout - Yahoo! News

Awesome. Maybe other theaters will do the same thing.

I am tired of the entitled "I can do whatever I want" in public with no fear of recourse or if you are annoying other people with your private conversations in public.

Good for Alamo. I wish others would do the same.

I hereby promise to never talk or text in a theater again due to the sheer awesomeness of the Alamo Drafthouse.

That may be a little extreme. Surely cell phones are a useful and efficient tool for modern society. The way people use them as status symbols and without any sort of class or respect to others, however, I could do without.

Hmm, maybe we should start a "Is there a such thing as a considerate cellphone user?" thread...

I stand by my statement.

Cell phones help create behaviors that are harming our society. Less human interaction, killing people while texting while driving, ADD, cell yell, rude usage in public places etc...

While you are right, it is the user, I can't help but feel that cellphones are a BIG problem. It's invaded my daily life, and many times each day I find myself getting angry about a cellphone for one reason or another. And I know I'm not the only one.
