I've never been what you would call a good student. Alwys did my projects the day before they were due. And I've never really studied. I don't know how. But now I'm actually tring to be a good student and do really good in my classes. So this brings me to my queston, How do I study? How do I rember what I read?

First thing you need to do is identify HOW you learn best. Each person probably has a few different ways they learn something new. Look at how you learn basslines, how do you learn how do something physical like sports, skateboarding, how about video games. Some people are visual learners. Some people mimic others. Some people can read instructions and figure it out. Some people need to listen to instructions. Once you identify the way you learn you can apply different strategies for different types of material. In almost all cases, I've found that your best way to recall information you've learned, is when it is linked to some kind of physical activity (writing stuff down, creating flash cards, lists, etc), and tying it with some kind personal aspect of your life (not always possible however).

listen to the man, he knows what he's on about

in addition... I'm guessing you're a fairly musical guy, hanging around on the bass forums? I'm a musical guy too. and in school whenever they teach us revision techniques for subjects, they always skim over the auditory learners...

I had to revise a lot of A4 pages packed full of bullet point notes for my gov/politics as-level... so I recorded myself reading out all of the notes, placing emphasis on the bits of the sentences that I'd highlighted... and just shut my eyes and listened to the recordings.

you have to keep asking yourself questions though. I mean I've got a very very short attention span, and I find it almost impossible to concentrate on anything... to get around that, I just force myself to question everything; 'why does that happen?' 'why is this word so important?'... just anything to keep my brain active.

good luck mate!
