Finished building my first AR15... Thanks, Uncle Sam!

Sweet, it's all done... bought a stripped DPMS lower receiver here locally for $109 and then a 16" Midlength Flattop upper kit from M&A parts. Got a few upgrades such as a free float handguard, 2 stage trigger, hogue grip, and m4 stock.

Constructing the lower receiver wasn't too bad except I launched the front pivot pin detent and spring across my house and was pretty irate until I realized they included an extra one in my parts kit. There's a slight wobble between the lower and upper so I'm thinking about getting an Accuwedge. I don't have a stock wrench so I haven't figured out how I'm going to tighten the collapsible stock nut either...

Anyway here's some pics, planning on taking it shooting pretty soon, I still need to clean and lube this bad boy up. Also in the pictures is my Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm.

I didn't know TB'ers made automatic weapons on the side of making basses.

It's actually a semiautomatic... full auto is illegal without a Class III license, which aren't available in Illinois...

I take it that pimping up the rifles is a relatively popular thing around there? Around here, people only soup up the semi-auto military rifles they use for competitions, since it can be pretty expensive. Less parts retailers and all that.

I did not know that automatic guns are illegal in the US, I always tought that anybody can buy them, but it is good to know that there are some restrictions.

Those are nice looking guns

I think it's funny that kids 18 years old can buy semi-auto assault rifles but can't get hand guns. Kind of a double standard.

Beautiful gun though. Nice pistol too!

Isn't that to do with the fact you can conceal a hand gun but an AR is a little harder to conceal.

How do you like the M & P 9? I've been eyeing one for a while. I just picked up a Busmaster M4 myself, foto's to follow.

Exactly. But if one were to go on a shooting rampage, one could do much more damage with the AR. Oh well, I'm for keeping gun regulations strict. When I turn 21 my dad and I are taking the concealed carry class together and get handguns together. He wants a desert eagle but I'm just gonna go for a nice .45 acp

He's going to regret trying to hide a desert eagle - to say nothing of the weight!

Haha, I know. He's a big man and wants a big gun. I think it's too gimmicky as a whole. It's more suited for looking intimidating in movies than it is for practical application. Oh well, mid life crisis, we see our dads do some strange things. Although I think I talked him into keeping the Deagle as his "bedside protection" and getting something smaller for his car.

I bought one of those purely for the size and weight. I wanted to own the biggest and baddest gun of all my friends. I had to get rid of it since I could not afford the ammo.

It's great... low recoil, very accurate... I've ran 350 rds thru it with no problems, and a couple boxes of that were cheap-o stuff like Wolf. I liked how it fit my hand better than the Glock and XD. I really like the TLR2 light/laser I have on it as well, great for home defense applications.
