Yeah, I won't get to use any gun I buy much which is sad. I don't have a car so that complicates things. I might just leave it at my parent's place and shoot when I go there.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but holy smokes. I knew prices were high right now, but I went to a gun show yesterday in search of a couple cheap hard cases and a little ammo and WOW. Prices on everything have gone nuts... like NUTS... Not only could I not find a single hard case or any cheap 7.62x39mm for my SKS, but three different guys had SKS price tags at $650, which is crazy coin. Only "good deal" I saw was a quality built FAL .308 for $900, which only seems like a good deal based on the numerous other examples of them going for $1300-1600 all day long (though the highest priced are the Imbels and such, even the cheap Century Arms FALs are pulling blood). Crazy price tag of the day aside from the SKS was a PS-90 tagged at $2600. Yikes! Guess I'll stick to the guns I already have until the market calms down a bit!

Suddenly basses look like a cheap hobby! I told the wife I almost bought the FAL and she said "I could see you spending that kind of money on a bass, but not on a gun." Bless that woman; sounded like permission to buy another bass to me! LoL

Happy plinking,
Jacob

Yeah, it's bad now. I have a 9mm AR15 since a local indoor range would let me shoot on the pistol side since it was a LOT better than shooting next to people with muzzle breaks. Couldn't find any mags for that. Annoyed. Oddly enough, there was a big pile of 9mm Baretta mags collecting dust.

Ammo prices are insane.

Hopefully this should all die down in a few weeks or so.

Right on. I thought maybe you had some personal touches on it. I've seen a lot of nice goodies on ARs over the years.

100% stock at this time. Was planning on adding things, but that's when I got engaged. A kid later, I haven't shot in so long.

That's nothing to be down about man. Sounds like great things going on in your life! Congrats on the engagement and the little one! We have an 11 year old boy and a 7 year old girl. A lot of things that used to be the world are now just an afterthought, and that's ok!

LOL, I'm entirely too busy to ever be down.

I miss shooting. I really miss gun shops having reasonably priced goods, stuff in good supply, and a lack of crowds.

Does make me wonder if I should sell anything. Could make a few bucks if this trend continues.

this thread inspired me to dig my guns out of my dads gunsafe the other night

I'm a shotgun enthusiast, but would like to get a handgun and an AR style weapon

I have a matching set of Ithaca pump action shotguns; 12g, 16g, and 20g.
my dad has:
a matching set of Browning semi automatic shotguns; 12g, 16g, and 20g.
and over under 12g double barrel
a 20g double barrel
and a 410 double barrel ( learned to shoot on this one )

It's definitely a seller's market right now. Like I told my dad, you could probably sell something now and buy it again in 6 months for half of what you sold it for!

I've been looking into buying a surplus rifle. Sold out everywhere. Even ammo you apparently used to be able to find all day

Bolt-action stuff might be a better buy than semi-auto right now. What kind of surplus rifle?

Mosin Nagants aren't terrible buys still. Good guns. 7.62x54mmR ammo isn't as commonly used as, say, AK/SKS/MAK ammo, but at this point that may be a good thing... you might actually be able to FIND some.

Good luck,
Jacob

Mosins as well as Mausers, Enfields, SKS, and K31s are sold out as well as the ammo. Online at least

I'm surprised. There was no shortage of Mosin Nagants at the gun show I attended last weekend. They seemed to be in the ~$200 range, which is about twice what they should be, but still, for a good rifle, $200 is acceptable (to me). I'm surprised the ammo is so hard to come by, since it's not usually what the trendy AR-style rifles are chambered in.

I guess *everything* is hard to come by right now... good luck man!

I went to Bass pro shop and to my surprise they didn't have a single bass guitar.
