Firefox 3 problems...

Sign in to disble this ad
OK I need some help on this one.

My laptop pretty much stopped running the old Firefox and so I decided to finally upgrade to the FF3 version.

But now I'm having some real bother with it. If I have more than two tabs open, like if I'm listening to any streaming site, then the streaming content will keep jamming, stopping to buffer or even randomly skipping back to the start.

I also can't install the Serbian and French dictionaries onto my spell checker so I can't check any posts in Serbian (on other forums I use anyway) or French sites, or add accents/diacritics to words.

Has anyone got any ideas how I can solve this? It's becoming irritating to say the least.

Did you vomit on your laptop before it stopped working? Because I would guess that it might cause faults to develop.

I'm sorry, someone had to say it...

This thread is just a thinly-veiled attempt at bragging about being able to type in Serbian and French.

Firefox 3 is a load of crap. I refuse to download it again after it crashed my computer multiple times. I just use version 2 and don't let it update to 3.

I've had Firefox 3 on five different computers, mine, mothers, sisters, work, my old one, never any problem with it, at all.

+1. I've installed in on 5-6 computers with no issues.

Try disabling all your extensions:
-Tools, Add-ons, Extensions, Disable, Disable, Disable etc.

If that doesn't improve things, try creating and running with a new profile.

There are instructions here:

http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Profiles

- basically on Windows, from the command line run: firefox -p
You'll have to be in the firefox program directory if its not in your path.

It's not just me. Firefox 3 has been known to have problems. Just check out their support forum.

FF3 runs much more slowly for me than any previous version of FF. Pages take way longer to load.

Not that Firefox is a bad browser, it just uses way too much memory.

My only issue with FF is the bookmarks not saving (whether I use the command in the drop down menu or highlight the star in the url bar method). Any fix for this?

I've had it occasionally eat mine.

Otherwise, I like it. I don't notice any significant memory consumption from the previous iterations.
