Over the course of my life I've learned that when I shake the hand of another man it should be firm, say something about yourself, and leave a good impression. Nobody particularly taught me this but I just kind of picked it up. I always find it a little weird when I get a weak handshake from another guy but I don't know exactly why. Maybe it's because it's what I'm used to? Anyway how you guys feel about strong handshakes?

The dead fish.
The firm, and confident.
The deathgrip of a small penis.
I'm the second one, I think it's the best when you're shaking another dude's hand, and I've notice that some women find it attractive too, though you have to be gentle with some of them, as they have small, girly hands.

As soon as I did, I could feel his hand seem to crush inside of mine. What I didn't know was that he had very bad rheumatoid arthritis, and his joints where eaten up. I nearly broke his hand.

What's the consensus on duration? I'm in for a second or two, but then I want out. Does that make me a one pump chump?

I hate the dead fish. I also hate when the other person grabs a bit too early and ends up squeezing just my fingers. |

| | | | I usually try to match the person whose hand I'm shaking.
I've also noticed that I usually look at their hand during the handshake, instead of making eye contact, which probably seems really strange. |

I'm only 40 but I have arthritis in the pinky and right-hand side of my right hand. A solid, firm handshake is fine. Attempts to prove manhood by crushing my hand usually hurt my hand *really* badly.
Firm but not crushing is the best choice.

Having said, that I don't like limp handshakes either, but I think that says more about me than the limpee.
In our band for some unknown reason we bump knuckles. What does that mean?

FWIW, I have a firm handshake, but past experiences told me not to press hard right from the start, because that's just inconsiderate. And potentially painful.
