| first digital camcorder?

so i've used some camcorders before, owned one that was hi-8, but i want to go digital. i won't be doing anything too intuitive with it, just filming some stuff, most notably a trip that i'll be taking to nashville to play some shows and visit friends later this month, i'm hoping to flim some of the band i'll be with (acoustic band, not very loud) as well as just general stuff. the camcorder must be imovie/mac compatible.
i'm really liking what i've been reading about the kodak zi6, it looks great for the money, i even have a lead on one for $100. i don't know if i can beat that. i've heard that the sound quality isn't amazing, but i'll have my laptop with me and i'm thinking that i might be able to get a feed from the mixer at the shows, soundman willing. anyway, any advice/thoughts are appreciated. thanks! -brad
