Write?

I think it's looks professional. My dad always had his full first and last names along with middle initial on all his business cards.

Personally I don't bother with it.

I always sign First name, middle initial, last name. I also have it monogrammed onto my chefs coat. Hows that for pretentious?

I read that on my iphone on the wifi network at starbucks while sipping my iced mochachino, reading the wall street journal, and pondering polo strategies.

I like the First initial, second initial, last name format (like B. F. Skinner)

It depends. If you're F. Scott Fitzgerald, you can get away with it.

Hmmm.

W. Goodwin Thornton doesn't make sense.

William G. Thornton, Jr. sounds much better.

W.G. Thornton sounds the best....

But i like my name just as plain old Will

I don't think that's pretentious.

What's pretentious is walking around in public with a cell phone stuck to the side of your face and you're saying stuff like, "Tell them that they need to get that deal done because millions of dollars are at stake and I don't want to have to fly over there again to take care of this problem myself. Hold on a minute, I've got another call. ... Yeah... Sell ten thousand shares when it hits 71...."

That's pretentious.

you know what's pretentious, having two middle names, i mean, how the hell do i decide what name to shorten?

D.T.A. Muusers or D. Thomas A. Muusers or D.T. Alexander Muusers or Daniel T.A. Muusers or Daniel T. Alexander Muusers or D. Thomas Alexander Muusers or Daniel Thomas A. Muusers or maybe just Daniel Thomas Alexander Muusers...
and then to think that in 5 to 6 years i'll get my title ir.

I guess it depends on why you do it.

I work with a guy who's named after his father, but instead of the junior thing he just goes by his middle name.

Hmmm, I guess it's all a matter of opinion. I personally don't put much thought into the way I (or other people) sign a name.

Sincerely,
J.N. Weaver

+1

I am sorry but your average middle class person doesn't have a "legacy" their child needs to carry on through the same name.
