FJ cruiser or Tacoma

Sign in to disble this ad
Well I was in love with the tacoma for a while and planned on selling my frontier and getting one.. Just prefer toyota. Then I saw a fj cruiser and have a love hate relationship with it..

I do offroading alot. LOVE it.. So it has to be 4wheel drive, also I want it to be white, but they only offer white for the trail team edition which is expensive, but if I can find one used for around 25 soon then I would take it..

I was set on the tacoma because the bed, if I got an FJ I would have to get a trailer one day.. I was planning on loading something like a 4 wheeler.. However I recently learned the tacomas tailgate was also plastic on the inside and any heavy weight will bend the tailgate... This pissed me off, but the tacoma is still an option..

What do you guys think? Tacoma or fj cruiser? I know the looks of the Fj cruiser can take some getting used to.. I test drove one and they drive so smooth.. The inside is so easy to clean but its harder to access the passenger seats than in the 4 door tacoma.. The fj will most likely be better off road and I never owned an suv and really would like to.. There is just enough room in the back to sleep but legs would have to be bent..

Im totally split between the two..

can't go wrong with any toyota... but the tail lights of the fj cruiser are totally ugly... they stick out to far. not a good thing if you are dealing with tight trails when 4 wheelin. personally Im jeep guy, but i'd go with the tacoma.

Worth looking for.

That is just sexy. Or a Jeep YJ.

I thought very seriously about the FJ myself. After doing some research I read that they have considerable tire squeal on pavement (mostly on corners even at low speeds). I test drove 2 of them and they both squealed quite a bit so I decided against it. For me, it was too annoying and I ended up with a 4Runner instead. Personally, I really like the look of the FJ but mostly I drive on pavement and I couldn't get past the tire noise. Good luck with the decision though.

That is a thing of beauty. It is unforgivable what they have turned it into

i can honestly go either way.. White tacoma or Fj but the fj would most likely have to be black as white is rare.. And i promised myself neveragain a black vehicle

Assuming it can handle an 8' ladder, I'd probably go for the FJ given the choice. I have to admit though, I have mixed feelings as well regarding the new cruiser. Nothing like the classic 40 series.

Tacomas can wheel equally well. The shorter wheelbase of the FJ will make it more maneuverable in difficult terrain but less stable on climbs/descents. Which ever you choose, make sure it has a locking differential (unless of course you already plan on installing an aftermarket locker/s)

I looked at an FJ, but kept my '98 Tacoma (with an all-metal tailgate) and gave it to my fiance; replaced it with an '04 Tundra.

Not much help, am I...

I used to own a yellow FJ. Sold it because I just didn't need that big of a car anymore. But it rocked. Great for just about anything you'd want to do with one. I've owned more Toyotas than any other car brand and I will definitely buy another one day.

I absolutly hate this.. I really think I want to go with the FJ now I just gotta save up a few thousand and wait till I can find a good priced trail team edition.. OR all back trd edition but I promised myself no more black..

That might be hard to do though...

Tacoma is still an option.. I just want to try somthing without a bed for once.. However Im not inlove with the fjs interior, the seats are a little too plasticy..

They're great for cleaning though. The mud wipes right off.
