Flat Panel, Big Screen TV's

Lots of great deals out there so I'm looking for a little help in terms of what I shoud be looking at when deciding between all of these deals. I don't watch a ton of TV but I do have a Blu-Ray player and like high def sports. I'm basically looking for a 46" LCD, 1080p. I'm seeing prices anywhere from $599 to $1500. Can any of you tech experts let me know how important contrast ratio is (and what would be good)? Also, the 60 vs 120 Hz....big deal? Anything else I should be looking at when deciding between brands and prices?

I spent a few hours on this website doing research before we bought our plasma four years ago: AVS Forums.

General rule is you get what you pay for, like with our basses. All the ones in the lower end of the prices just vary from features here and there. The more expensive sets will give you the clarity and quality you want. So in other words, you won't find a top end LCD or plasma for $500.

I noticed a huge price difference between 40" and 44-6". With your price range, you might want to choose between more features and more size.

MJ5150's suggestion is a good one. Visit that forum. Think of it as being full of over-the-top enthusiasts about this stuff, just as TB is about bass/bassists.
