Flyfishing Club anyone?

Sign in to disble this ad
There must be a few flyfishers on TB...while I live on Cape Cod and love catching striped bass on the fly, my favorite is still trout fishing on the streams of western Mass. These are from the Swift River and the Deerfield River...

How about shots of your area?

I love flyfishing! Just hooked a nice largemouth on Thursday. I'm more into the saltwater and estuarine fly fishing though.

Last November I hit gold with a Grand Slam in Belize - bonefish, permit, and tarpon all in the same day. Hunting the permit was unbelievable...

Wow that sounds like a great day's fishing! I live near an estuary where we get stripers, shad, weakfish (sometimes), fluke, and sharks on the fly. I have fished for tarpon and bonefish in Florida but only a couple times. Must be great in Belize! Thanks for responding, how about pics?

Mmmmmmmm, rather than fly fishing, I'd rather have some Flying Fish

Sorry, when I opened the thread I realized I mis-read the title and was thinking it was about the brewery. They actually do make *really* good beers, so if it's available where you are they're definitely worth a try. Maybe you could enjoy a Flying Fish while you're fly fishing!

I love fly fishing...as long as there aren't too many trees/brush around cause I'm not really good at it. Mostly for trout in streams and alpine lakes, but sometimes for panfish at my local lakes.

I have a few pics in the Fishing Club thread. I'll try to dig it up and post a few here.

I also like to fly fish. I've been doing it with my dad since I was a little kid. I haven't had the chance to go in a few years though. In a few months, my dad and I are taking a trip up through the upper plains to see all the Sites and do some fly fishing. Possibly some pheasant hunting too.

I plan to start this summer. I'll be spending numerous weekends in northern Wisconsin and there's lots of trout streams I want to try on the Bayfield peninsula.

Hard to beat a day that includes some fly fishing and bird hunting!
I have never had the pleasure of hunting or fishing the Midwest or far west states, but would love to some day. I've read a lot about Montana and Idaho.

darn you New Englanders and your scenic wilderness

no pics but i once caught a large mouth bass out of a runoff pond from and electrical plant. it was more disgusting than scenic. and i wouldn't dare eat that fish. for fear of mercury poisoning.

I used to build tapered laminate fly rods as a hobby back in the 80's and 90's, unfortunately I just never got into the fishing part. I was taken on fishing trips to be the cook, great with the culinary, poor with the fishing pole...LOL

Hahaha...New England is scenic but hardly wilderness! We have good fishing around power plants but definitely DO NOT eat the fish from around there! I rarely kill fish, the occasional striper when it's of legal size (28") or fluke during the season. And once in a while a good holdover trout, in fall or winter when the water is really cold.

I've built a few bamboo rods, definitely a labor of love! I have a friend who has somehow managed to earn his living for over thirty years building amazing bamboo flyrods. I admire him and his work, similar to full time luthiers around here, they get by but it's tough going for most of them.
And it's great when there is a good cook along!

You can add me to the Flyfishing club list. I am actually the Rep for Cortland-Hardy and Greys among others. I've been slamming big smallmouth for the last week locally.

Awesome! I've been a Cortland guy for thirty years. The stripers and blues are tearing it up around here at the moment! Great picture!
