Flying with a bass after the failed Christmas bombing

Sign in to disble this ad
A slew of new passenger regulations are being implemented and thought of as I type this. Has anyone flown with a bass or guitar since Christmas? Carry on? Checked? Tell all.

I hope those of you that will fly with a bass will come back to this thread after your trip to share your experience.

I think as long as you don't try to fly with it taped to your leg, you'll be okay.

you have to be a member to get the paper, but you may be able to search around for it online...

Its just in case you run into problems but it really depends more on the airline. Check the website of your airline and they should have something about it...

The AFM letter is for getting through security screening and as the op states it really does depend on the airline once one gets to the gate. The AFM continues to lobby to help musicians with carry-on instruments. For those of you who are not professional musicians and would like to support causes such as this you can become a Friend of the AFM. There is no cost to this, you would receive emails that would be forwarded to your representatives once you have responded. You can find info at www.afm.org.
