Footswitch for Camera

Desired effect: loud pop for sound input on my camera to serve as audio-only "clapboard."

Ideal setup: footswitch or handheld activator. XLR (on camera) to TRS (stereo jack) input (on activator).

Desired Difficulty of build: moderate to easy.

What I do is film my Pastor's sermons (part of my job), and I use on track for his voice and the other track to serve as an audio-peak-only track to indicate when he references scripture. At each peak I insert the scripture over top of his sermon in Final Cut Pro.
Right now I use a mic and "thump" it with my hand or blow really hard and quickly into it. However, it is only nominal: sometimes the peak is not "peaky" enough for FCP to auto-detect and it adds time to my Post-production.

Any ideas out there? If there is already something that can be purchased, that would be very awesome. I don't know the secret code to get google to give me the right results.

Short a switch out so when its not pressed its quiet but when its pressed in you get ground buzz.
