Smashed my fourth finger on my left hand on Tuesday. It's my wedding ring finger. It happens to be a finger I use for bass.
Surgery was yesterday morning. Pins and screws stay in for six weeks. Gentle physio for 2-3 months after that. Expect to have 80-90% mobility in that finger when fully recovered. My hand is in a cast with only my thumb and first finger exposed.

Take care of it! |

Happy recovery buddy.

I had always been a pick player so i just aught myself to play holding the pick with my middle ring and thumb finger, the fact that i was unable to play finger style made me appreciate more the style, and now that i can do it a lot.
There is a Jewish proverb that says "everything id for the best" at the end you will see that something good comes out of your injury.

oh well. | It usually is! When I broke my wrist, I learned very quickly that saké and cycling do not go well together. |

Especially with me three feet away. Unbelievable.

Just don't ever try to lay a hand on my wife or my daughters. Ever.
Despite the pain and inconvenience, I'd do it again.
BTW...the cop at the police station said the same thing you did.
We smiled.

Take this opportunity to work on your right hand tapping! Or do some double thumb exercises with open strings.

When I told him of what the guy did, and I told him my reaction, he just smiled and said he would have done the same thing.
Embellisher...thanks for the advice. The three fingers are set together for a while. The ring finger has a pin and a screw in it to keep the alignment correct. The surgeon told me after the operation that it was in better shape than the x-ray suggested. He expects me to have 80-90% mobility when recovered. Six weeks in this cast and then pin/screw removal. Gentle progressive physio for 2-3 months.
Anybody want to babysit my Sadowsky? How about my 75 fretless p-Bass?
I'm joking. Knowing you guys, I have to state that I'm joking right up front.

I'm right handed and the injury is on the left hand. I have no idea how I did it.
