So who else had their internet knocked off by microsoft's latest xp update?
Being a zonealarm user it happened to me and i've spent all morning trying to work out what the hell happened. It was only a few minutes ago that I thought to shutdown my beloved firewall program (just incase) and low and behold the internet is back. Had a quick google and it turns out that it was the micrsoft update causing problems with zonealarm.
Needless to say i'm a little peeved about the whole affair |

Windows firewall is fine if you run a router over it...

If you don't use the Internet at home, you can still get virii from CDs and DVDs etc.
But, each to their own. I can't afford to lose any data on my home PCs, so I'm firewalled and backed up to hell.

As an IT tech, I've avoided adding certain updates to my company's computers simply because they cause more problems than they fix.
Welcome to the world of Microsoft.

A few weeks ago I installed SP3 (and a few random updates that came afterward). It configured automatically to ZoneAlarm. It worked perfectly.
I've been really lucky I guess. I've never had a real issue with MS, other than their ridiculous prices! My current system is a fully up-to-date XP SP3 box that runs incredibly well.
