Found a new job

Just thought I'd share a little good news

A few months back, my company decided to move our office and manufacturing facility 3 hours south, to consolidate it with a pre-existing manufacturing facility, that's a part of another division. The basic idea is that real estate is cheaper at the other location (both facilities are rented), and that in the consolidation, they could afford to let go of a few people whose positions would be redundant.

I was not one of those people. I was identified as 1 of 3 people 'critical to the success of the business' just because I know every electrical detail of all of our systems. I'm the electrical engineer, the other 2 guys are a programmer and the head of manufacturing.

So I figured that since I was deemed critical, they would make some sort of offer as incentive for me to actually move 3 hours south. Nope. Their stance, although they would never admit it, is "You need us more than we need you." I don't appreciate arrogance, of any form, so I told them they'd have to do without me after the move. HR actually told me "You'll never find a new job, not in this market"

Flash forward to today. Friday, the move is complete, and consequently, Friday is my last day. However, today, I received an official job offer, after a series of interviews over the last few weeks.

The new job brings with it a 15% raise, and even a signing bonus.

I have an exit interview with my current employer tomorrow. Should be fun.

Congratulations! For post-interview storytelling purposes, I hope you aren't "the bigger man" about it

Kidding aside, don't burn bridges you don't have to, but this does so feel like a bragging rights situation.
