Free DVD editing software for PC?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm not finding what I want, and maybe you can help.

I have a DVD of my band that I'd like to rip to the computer, edit into songs, and post on YouTube and other places.

The DVD is an hour long, so the trial versions aren't worth my time.

I am not terribly computer literate, but I'm good at following clear directions.

I own a PC. Please save your jokes about my inferior computer - they got old about 4 years ago.

I have Windows XP that comes with Movie Maker, so if I can get it to my computer I should be able to take it from there.

If there's nothing out there free that's any good, maybe there's something that's reasonable and VERY good that you'd recommend...?

Sony Vegas, 30 day fully functional trial, should give you plenty of time to learn it and create your clips.

Can't you import it with Movie Maker? It does the slickest conversion to WMF format for YouTube that you've ever seen!

I used it for all the band clips on you YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/colocoug

But I played back Digital 8MM from a camcorder with a Firewire output that connected to a matching input on my computer. Do you have a DVD drive on your computer? Should be able to play back with that...capture in the computer.
