Free Online MMORPG's... favorites?

Sign in to disble this ad
Everyone who plays MMORPG games online has at least one favorite. Some of them cost money for accounts, such as wow and EQ... but then there are the free games. Not free trials, the actual games that have full availability (minus any expansion content) that are ad supported or cash shop supported for special items.

What are your favorites, and what level is your primary character?

Cabal Online- lv. 94
Rappelz- lv. ?? (higher than 30 last i looked)
Shaiya- lv. ?? (can't remember... conflict between software doesn't allow me to play right now)
Anarchy Online- lv. ?? (know know highest character on my free account... i play mostly on pay account there)
Perfect World International- lv. 33/34
Requiem: Bloodymare- lv. ?? (can't remember)

Those are all the ones I can think of that I play (there are more, but they're either not favorites, or i didn't remember them).

Dungeons and Dragons is going free to play here pretty quick, if not already. Me and my friends are making the transition from Lord of the Rings online to that when it goes live.

Only decent free MMO I've ever played was Guild Wars.

+1 to that. I used to play it quite a bit, but not so much anymore. Pretty good game though. (It's technically not free, but it's a 1 time charge for each campaigne/expansion that comes out as opposed to a monthly fee)

That sounds interesting. I started out playing the original D&D when it first came out. I played several D&D RPGs (Playing Neverwinter Nights 2 now). I never tried the online versions though. If it's free or cheap then I'll give it a try.

Thanks for the heads up!

Maple Story is alright, but gets horribly repetitive.

I haven't tried maple story, but my experiences with NEXON and their other title mabinogi have not been the best.

It's going to be fantasy medieval setting... but other than that, no clue. For all I know it could be an RTS/MMO like some of the games (think Atlantica).

A buddy of mine said it was crazy cool. I can't imagine it being as in depth as a pay to play, but for being free he seemed impressed. I've never liked f2p because of how repetitive everything gets i.e. Maple Story being a prime example.

D&D going f2p soon though in case anyone missed it

Evony gets a lot of hate on the internet for having some business practices that are absolutely terrible. Here's an article about it.

I played one called Achaea from mid 2002 through late 2008, with sporadic activity after that until March 2009. Addictive as no other and really messed up how I prioritized for a few years, but overall I don't regret it.

I've never gotten into WoW or any of the others. I'm fine with my console gaming and occasional bouts of Worms Armageddon.

That really explains a lot...

World of Warcraft can be played through private servers. My personal favorite is Torn. Their private server is fairly stable and has been around for a while. There haven't been many other f2p MMOs that I've found to be worth-while. I personally cannot stand the whole micro-transaction system of buying gear and exp that is prevalent in most Asian MMOGs.
