Freeware for drawing a floor plan?

Sign in to disble this ad
Or something cheap. I need to make up a floor plan of my house, nothing fancy. At the very least, though, I need to set the scale of the X and Y rulers to match the dimensions on the drawing. Open Office Draw doesn't allow that function, or it would be suitable.

I've also tried the free trial of RapidSketch, but it has various UI and formatting issues, and the drawing can't be saved to a common file type for later use.

Sketchup is a 3-D modeling program but you can very easily do a floor plan--keep your drawing in plan view and turn off perspective.

Inkscape or Google Sketch-Up. Also, try DeltaCAD

I mess around in shetch up quite a bit. It isn't the greatest, but it will suit your needs. For 3D stuff, it has a really good layout for visulizing the three dimentions.
