Fun stuff to do in Boston?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm going to be working in Boston this summer, and I was curious if anyone could give me some suggestions for interesting things to do while I am there.

Depends on what you like to do -- Boston has an awful lot going on. There is all the historical stuff to see - the Constitution, Faneuil Hall, etc. -- and a number of great museums, ranging from the Museum of Fine Arts to the Science Museum to a lot of others. It can also be fun to go up to Cambridge and explore around Harvard Square. It's also worthwhile getting out of the city for a weekend -- come up here to NH and spend a weekend camping or canoeing, fishing, etc.

The summer is an interesting time here. A majority of the college students take off then. There's live music at several clubs, there's the red sox, there's the historical aspect, there really is a lot to do.

Depends upon what you consider fun. I lived in Boston through the 80s and was never bored. I think it's impossible to not find something fun to do in and around Boston.

Minute Man National Historical Park is 30 minutes away, and worth the drive.

Don't sweat going to the sox games if $$ is tight, but walking around Kenmore Square on a early summer evening when the Sox are hosting the Yankees can be fun. People watching is great, bars are cool and of course, college girls wearing their pink hats

If you get a chance to come to Cape Cod (75 miles south), do it durning a week day (Monday - Thursday); weekend traffic is rough during busy summer months.

Try to catch a show in Kenmore Square or Cambridge. Check out the square, etc........(much to do).......

Use the word "Wicked" in every conversation you have. (Like when the waitress asks you how your burger is, tell her it's "Wicked good.")

For music you have the Middle East, Paradise, TT the Bears, Brighton Music Hall, and several others. Pick up the Phoenix (paper/magazine) for listings of music and events. I've always like the North End (Italian area) and the Boston Common.
