+1.

I've learned a ton watching the video [SITSOM] and working from the book. I'll watch it again this week.

The heavenly hosts will groove harder for his passing, but we'll miss him down here.
RIP.

Very sad. As bass players we probably understand more than anybody how rare a truly great drummer is.

That's sad. He was a tight drummer and he seemed like a genuine nice guy. I was listening to the SITSOM album just this morning, and on track 14 they had the introductions for all the Funk Brothers... "Ladies and Gentlemen, it's time to give it up. Give up the love for Detroit's unsung musical heroes. The drum section: Uriel Jones..."

I think what he did with the Funk Brothers was incredible. He'll be missed.

It is sad to see Mr. Jones pass away, but I am happy that he lived long enough to recieve public recognition. I just bought "Standing in the Shadows of Motown," and I strongly recommend that all of you get it. I found a copy of the DVD at Borders for $7.99.

I'm going to make my g/f sit and watch SITSOM tomorrow night. I bought it when it came out, best DVD purchase I've ever made, and best DVD purchase I ever will make.

Nobody could kick cut time like that guy!
It's hard watching the greats passing -- in jazz too.

Ditto that! I watch it often, and enjoy watching it everytime. The Funk Brothers (collectively) are one of my biggest musical heroes.

Aw man. One of the coolest things after seeing SITSOM was when one of the drummers was talking about how each of the regular drummers had sort of a signature fill. A couple of days later I heard an old Motown song on the radio and noticed the fill and thought "That one is Uriel."

RIP Uriel Jones.

Just watched it last month. Then made every member of my band watch it.

Same thing I told my drummer about 'the pickup'. He gets it
now after seeing Uriel talk about Benny Benjamin's classic
pickup.

Rest in peace and thanks for the nice memories. You may be dead but your music will
live forever.
