I haven't posted in OT for over two years, but I just had to come and share this with you.
The following Amazon product reviews were written by one, Dr. M. Vogelhaus (from the UK), and are clearly the work of a very sharp mind ... http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/cdp/membe...tReview&page=1
Hope you enjoy them as much as I did . |

| | is, against all odds, still a scuba viking. | | Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Alta Loma, California | | this one took me a while to figure out, but once I realized it was a cook book, it became my favorite one: Quote:
This is a fascinating and hard hitting account of Hugh F-W's plight. Trapped in a kind of gastro-groundhog day, he has for several decades been trying to escape from River Cottage. True, it made him famous, and when he moved there first I am sure he was happy. However, he discovered that no matter how he tried to leave - on foot, by land rover, or in his ottercar - he found himself drawn inexorably back to the cottage, which functioned like some culinary planet to Hugh's moon.
"River Cottage Everyday" is both the title of the book and an existential cry of despair. The building's dark power has him in its thrall, and he fights on resolutely, in the only way he can: by cooking. Every recipe is a blow struck in a brutal war between him and the cottage; every ingredient is a weapon. I was moved to song by this book - highly recommended.

here's one about a laptop that he bought: Quote: |
If you are really hungry then this probably isn't for you. I would say that it is mainly aimed at the more sophisticated gourmets, wanting to try a more substantial snack, who would no doubt relish the chance to try such a delicacy. My favourite parts, in no particular order, were: the power lead (chewy but with a hint of liquorice), the screen (although it does need to be stewed to start bringing out the flavours) and of course the keys. All were fresh and well prepared, but my personal preference was for the f, s, i, r, x, f5, Del, and that old favourite Alt Gr. A surprise came from the memory boards; for the first time I ate these as sushi. Wasabi really makes them come alive. All in all, highly recommended.

Apparently, he's a school teacher, who teaches languages (well, Spanish at least) and was well known for his curious and amusing way of explaining things .
I think that he should write (peculiar) childrens stories, myself, and narrate animated versions of them . They'd sell well on DVD, I'm sure! |

Reminds me a lot of his writing style, also he mentioned ready steady cook, which i don't think exists outside of australia (its a terrible show, but the only thing on tv at half past one)

"The first thing I remember is the creaking of the timbers all around me, and the lurching of the ship from side to side. I was dressed as a circus trainer, but this was the first of many false trails I would follow in vain. I was alone, bewildered and hungry, four miles off the coast of Buckinghamshire. Since then I have wandered the barren steppes between Aylesbury and Thame, scratching a living making scale models of mythical creatures and sports presenters out of wet sand and reviewing things on amazon, here http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/pdp/profile/A3B2IL2CP9GW2C more information about me can be found on my facebook page at www.facebook.com/vogelhausen"
His writing style seems pretty authentic, too . | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
