Yes, but not playing the same exact pattern an octave higher. I have been known to overly dramatize something by sliding to a higher register, though

I'm guilty of the sliding swoop, usually if I have to play Mustang Sally for the zillionth time, it's a reactionary thing.

I'm guilty of the slide, but only because it's a reflex action. I'm not trying to impress anyone.

I talk to the drummer constantly, so we can keep it together while the guitarist blacks out and starts playing the wrong song.

And Kids in the Hall is a wonderful show with tons of bass humor.
(And the dude from Shadowy Men... is great and his is the only Gibson bass I ever liked the sound of)
