Just saw this now.

In retaliation to the Teddy Bear called Mohammed ordeal/thing. Some people have decided to retaliate against that on a local level.

What did that guy have to do with any of it

http://www.eveningtelegraph.co.uk/ou...0638634t0.shtm

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/...al/7125588.stm

Things like this just end up cycling hatred, gah!

(Thought i would share this as its on more of a local level here, and possibly something most people wouldnt hear about)

Wow. Vandalism is front page news now. Give me a break.

Someone ought to teach the Dundee police the difference between racism and religious bigotry. Not that one is any more excusable than the other....

Dont think it made front page, but im not sure.

And its a difficult one to call, the guy could just have been from that place but not actually Muslim or whatnot. The vandals knew the guy was from that area (i dont know the term, want to say Indian, but i dont think thats it, but thats not the point), they didnt know of his religious beliefs whatever they were.

And racism tends to sound harsher than bigotry im assuming by the way the papers seem to use it?

Not really the point tho.

His name is Mohammad, that's why he was targetted. Having that name pretty much means you are a Muslim....

I was christened, doesnt mean me using my name makes me christian.

Again, thats hardly the point of this thread, its just to show the idiocy of some people, which will just spiral problems.

Often, sure. But not necessarily.

This just goes to show the levels of ignorance and hate some people foster these days. I mean, as far as I am aware most of the Islamic community in great Britain was quite pissed off about the teacher's treatment in Sudan.

I tend to blame the woman more than the idiots who did the vandalism. She really did tempt fate by taking a job in a Muslim country. You couldn't pay me enough money to ever do what she did... That whole situation was 100% avoidable.

As avoidable as it is.

It was named after a boy in the class, and was it not named more by the class than her in particular per-say?

I know i could have made that mistake.

Would have been slightly miffed to say the least at the whole thing because its a law that is full of contradictions. And i still fail to see why it is ok for people to be named as such, yet not inanimate objects, when they seem to claim calling anything by that name is disrespectful?

I cant blame the woman at all for this, the teddy bear thing was nothing more than an excuse for the attack, if it wasnt that, they would have found something else. In no way was that man responsible for any of the happenings over wherever it all kicked off.

Since when does your name dictate your religion?

Maybe his parents were Muslim and he is a firm Atheist?

She was really just tempting fate. She could have been smart (or even respectful) enough to not go against one of a religion's values.
