It's still *technically* rumor, but all signs point towards it and there has been numerous references to it already.
Now if they sell their games at used prices, I'd probably be OK with it but I STILL couldn't resell it if I wanted to. | I was under the impression that some console games were already doing this to an extent, binding the game to your online account and then charging an activation fee to the subsequent owners if they want to play the game online?

It took me til last spring to buy my PS3, and once its no longer usable I'll have found another means for my Netflix connection. Plus, I'll still have GTAV, which should be released in September.

I recently sold a Wii and a ps vita, and on both the process of removing my personal account/info meant that the games I had legally downloaded had to be erased.
Same things goes to the music or movie you buy on iTunes, if you sell the computer or idevice, the content is lost. It kills the second hand market for sure. |

With Xbox and Playstation changing their systems to not allow used games - games better be good, cause you are stuck with it. | I've heard this too, to the extent of some claims that they may not even have disc drives. Quote:

For instance if you were to buy BF3 used, you could still update it & still play the single player, but you'd need to pay for access to the online multiplayer (~£7). Quote:

I think Sony/Microsoft would be nailing their own coffin shut if they completely do away with used games with the next gen consoles. | You can't really use used games on Steam either

Before, you had the right to sell your physical media (vhs, cd, dvd, games). Now, you pay to use a product, you do not own it. |

I'd have no problem buying a game with those sorts of restrictions so long as the cost of the game is sub $30. Unfortunately, that's not going to happen, so it looks like I'm completely gone from the console gaming market. IMHO, it's these sorts of greedy, idiotic decisions that are helping destroy the console gaming community. If they want people to buy games at new prices then they better start releasing games that are actually worth buying at new prices. I'm not paying $60+ for a 6 hours campaign and a multiplayer mode that will last me maybe a month. It's why I got most of my feet out of the door soon after I got my 360; it just wasn't worth it anymore. |

I'm a big fan of COD World at War, and it's hacked to death. Modded lobby's, GOD mode, etc...and it drives me crazy. Sometimes it takes me quite a while to find a regular lobby.
If you are going to sell me a game for $60 and then just abandon it after it stops selling - then I'm not buying it. Surely something like this must be in violation of some law or legal principal.
