GC not giving tracking numbers

Sign in to disble this ad
So I ordered a computer from a GC and not only did it not ship right away(typical GC warehouse excuse bull) but they REFUSED to give me a tracking number. Does anyone else not like the idea of not knowing when expensive gear is arriving?? I understand people are trying to scam them(redirect UPS shipments) but honeslty if its that easy to trick a couple of minimum wage warehouse workers at a GC why should anyone buy from there. Seems very unsafe. The whole not shipping right away is just pure typical...... but not being able to track my package really made me wanna get someone fired.

GC owns MF. I assume there is some kind of blend of the two since the purchase (in 1999.) MF is horrible with order information, fulfillment, and tracking. So, no surprise that an order placed through GC would be too. The good news is, you'll probably get it, the bad new is, you don't know when, and if you call, they don't know when.

Also, the shipment wouldn't necessarily have a tracking number if they had not prepared it for shipment yet, which is probably the case.

True. I worked for the 'Friend for a while, and you can't get a tracking number for your shipment until it's been processed and is actually in transit. The order has to be "verified" as well, which takes (usually) 24 hours.

If you are shipping it 2 day, or overnight, then those rules don't apply.

I managed(past tense) this Charleston GC. You get a tracking number the second your printer spits out the UPS tag loaded or not. They were sending it off for the 6pm pickup tuesday. I ordered saturday and Charleston had to pull stock from Durham and their warehouse manager has her own schedule, instead of sending out the goods her sales guys have sold all weekend. Keep in mind neither of these are high enough volume stores to warrant confusion but its also means they pay way less.....which is less effort. Sure I just called one of my buddies and he got the number FOR me. But I think its stupid they feel the need to keep info from you but not even sent it overnight when they have been sitting on it. Im pondering on whether I want to spend 450 more dollars for a computer just to return this one and make a point....Love the deal...hate the execution. My boy did all he could at my local store but man they sure bombed it over in durham. And my buddy would be the one taking the return. I hate GC structure.
