General Censorship

Sign in to disble this ad
This is not directed at the mods, I am not complaining. I just was thinking about the subject.

Why do people take offense to certain words. It seems none scientific words that deal with genitalia, the use of genitalia, or the rectum and its functions are all NO NOs.

I really wish the obscene morals of some religions were not so prevalent where I live.

I drink maybe 20 beers a year, 2 shots, and a glass if wine. We do grocery shopping on Sundays because we both have the day off. Sometimes I want to buy some Guinness, take it home and have 1...probably wont finish it. But I can not buy alcohol on Sunday. Also, I am prohibited by law from doing certain things with my wife.

Oh, I better go buy beer now in case I want some this month!

Please discuss as you like. If you feel your heart tense, you lip curl, you bum pucker, or your prostate swell please hot the back arrow and read a different thread.

Jonathan

I personally don't mind what you do at home w/your wife, & restricting alcohol sales from any particular day seems silly to me, too. Citing religious reasons for these laws would not endear me to said reigion, either. The word 'Taliban' comes to mind...

I dont think its the use of those words in describing what they actually describe, its when they are used specifically to offend, and as there might be a situation where it could mean either, it just saves the problem if you cut them out altogether.

I also think its just related to plain old politeness aswell.

And that on this forum, there are alot of younger users, and I dare say Paul doesnt want the place to be shoddy, or at the blame of people using "new words" to thier parents

The alcohol sales thing gets me too, it really is a bit out-dated and from times when religion played a more prominent role in everything.

What cant you do to your wife? As long as your not beating her or killing her (or doing it without her wanting to) whats the problem? Wierd, more local law?

There are still laws in a lot of US states against sodomy, and fellatio. (yes even behind closed doors, between a married, to each other, man and woman.) It's also forbidden, in some states to sell devices intended for sexual stimulation. Free country my eye.

I can see it now, the police busting down the door mid-action "This is a raid!"

Seperation of church and state also means seperation of 7-11 and church morals.

I can't buy beer until after 1pm on Sundays and I can't buy liquor at all except for in a bar on Sunday.

I wouldn't be on the road with the Sunday church people if they let me have my scotch at home.

Don't want to make this go to thread purgatory in the lobby so I am staying off the religious beat.

State of West Virginia won't allow liquor sales on Sunday, beer and wine after 1pm. For any store.

I can go to a bar after 1pm and have anything I want.

Yup. Alcohol is sold/served 24 hours a day here and is available from drive-thru liquor stands (although I've seen those in Texas, too).

If that is a chain, no. The one in my area is a independently owned daiquiri stand (and that's the name: Daiquiri Stand). Most of the others are similarly named (Daiquiris and Creams, Daiquiri Dock, etc). I got a gallon of "Hurricane" in my freezer right now.

I don't have much to add to this except for the fact that I beat that in about one day.

Carry on.

Good ol ABC stores.

In Maryland you can't even buy alcohol at a grocery store or any placed characterized as one (Sams Club etc.) regardless of the time of day.

It's really bad.

Ahh, this reminds me of a paintball tournament i was in...

We were playing at an outdoor expo, So the guy in charge held a huge meeting and drilled it into our heads that swearing will result in automatic disqualification, and will not be tolerated due to the audience will have youngens and old folk and stuff. Well my team was on double deck, So we were lounging around waiting n all, well the captain comes up and starts shouting " GET THE FUDGE READY! STOP SITTING AROUND ON YOUR FUDGING ASKS AND GET FUDGIN READY! WHERE THE FUDGE IS KYLE?!" we reply with he's the can, " WHAT? WHY THE FUDGE IS HE TAKING A PITS AND THIS TIME! THAT STUPID LITTLE BEACH! I OUTTA SHIP KICK HIM RIGHT NOW!" Well we busted out laughing becuase a big burly guy censoring himself was just hilarious! So for the whole day everyone was censoring themselves in this way. I never heard so many fudges and ships in one day. lol.

Certainly, whatever anyone does in their bedroom is nothing to do with the state, as long as it is between consenting adults.

I can't understand the kind of thinking that bans fellatio or sodomy, I mean, it has hardly caused the collapse of society where it is legal. Having engaged in both, I have to say I consider myself a pretty decent human being - I don't steal, lie, cheat, hurt people, I'm polite, and I help people when I can.

Mike

Booze Barns.

But only to midnite during the week & 1AM on Saturday....

Sundays are a No-No for anything but beer.

That's the ONLY thing that blows about Texas......

That's why laws were meant to be broken!
