I don't know how many people who saw the Conan movies actually read the original books by Robert E. Howard. The Governator actually did a pretty darn good job of portraying the character as it was written. However, one might observe that the character didn't have a great deal of dramatic range as written: Fight, kill, maim, loot, ravage. Repeat PRN.

EVERY ONE of 'em, and the later one's by de Camp but the originals were the best, not sure where they ended up, maybe Mom still has 'em. Wish I knew so I could let my son's read them, can't get them anymore at bookstores around here.
