Aww man Blanda! RIP! It seemed like he would never die; seemed like he lived a full, happy life. RIP Mr. Blanda, sorry you never never got to see us put together a decent football team for your last 10 yrs or so...

Yeah, I heard that on the radio a couple of hours ago. They don't have any players like him in the league any more.

Old school, baby, old school at its best! Straight-ahead kicker, hi-top shoes, leather helmet, then no-bar plastic helmet, then one-bar only. No teeth, broken nose, scars all over his face, skin like leather. He looked like a football player! Tough as nails, they don't make them like him anymore!

RIP George Blanda.

RIP George. A straight-on kicker who could still nail 50+ yard FGs well into his forties. Amazing.

Blanda, Butkus, and OJ were my favorite players when I was a little kid, and it's amazing all the old football memories that are coming back to me today.

Good ol' Player. Will be missed. Watching ESPN countdown now and they are doing a short bit on him.

Also a side note - Every time an old athlete dies some old teammate or coach always comes out and comments on how great he was because "he always wanted to win at everything he did". However if you play touch football with "that" guy, he's an @$$hole. Kinda like in Wedding Crashers "Crab cakes and football, that's what Maryland does!".

Just sayin'

One of the toughest men to ever play pro football. Remarkable in every respect - and I saw him play on TV back in the day.

I watched him back in the day and he was my favorite guy for years. Especially when he was QB'ing for the Houston Oilers. BTW, I have a 3rd or 4th year football card in mint for him. Very cool. Its been packed for years---gotta dig it out.

RIP, pal.
