George Clooney appreciation

Sign in to disble this ad
After watching Up In The Air the other night I realized that I have never seen a movie with George Clooney in it that I didn't enjoy.

That doesn't mean I think he's a great actor -- in fact, he has a few mannerisms that show up in nearly every role he's played that instantly seem to break character and make me think "aw crap George, didja have to do that there?" -- nor does it make me think all (or any) of the movies he's been in were great.

But I liked them. All of them. (Yes, even Ocean's 12.) That's gotta count for something, right?

No, you just think he's hot.

Serious tho, either he or his handlers pick good roles. They're not ALL good tho, (cough-Batman and Robin-cough)...but hey...

Batman and Robin was terrible. Ocean's 12 and 13 were pretty bland. Syriana was wretched and overly preachy. But other than those, I've liked most of his movies.

Yep, thumbs up here. Out of Sight is an overlooked gem, IMO. Up in the Air was great, Ocean's Eleven was fun, O Brother and Three Kings were each awesome in their own way, and Dusk Till Dawn was good. I still want to see Good Night and Good Luck and The Men Who Stare at Goats.

On the negative side, Syriana had a lot of potential but wound up being a mess, and of course Batman & Robin sucked. The Ides of March was just OK, I was a little disappointed.

Also, props for directing Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, I really liked that. And he's also the only actor I know of to play a gay dog.

Burn after reading was really good too...

It's funny, I was watching the American last night. It had a slow pace, but that served a purpose for that movie... Hot Italian women are always a plus .. lol

Love him, especially when working with the Coens. Probably my favorite actor in terms of enjoyable performances.

Can't say I respect his political posturing, though.

Up in the Air was probably the most truly, profoundly depressing movie I have ever seen...which is not to say it wasn't a fine movie.
